God created America!
I'm not speaking of the dirt and rocks, but the concept - of course, He created the dirt & rocks too - and if you've traveled our Nation, even a little, you've seen He did an awesome job.
His purpose is made clear in the prayers at Virginia Beach, 1607 1 ; The Mayflower Compact 1620 2 and George Washington’s Prayer 3
Who do you think inspired those prayers? Who do you think drafted the covenant they confirmed? We don’t have to guess, the answer is in the Bible
The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue. (2 Samuel 23:2)
"These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things I said to you.” (John 14:26)
The commitments of the covenants given in Matthew 28:18-20, often called"The Great Commission", is the basis for all Our Father has done in America. It is the reason America exists - to be the example of His Grace, to teach His Word, not as an abstract idea, but as the reason for the wonder that is America; the reason America has been a magnet to people across the world for over 200 years - the Shining City On The Hill.
The commands of the Great Commission can be listed simply:
Make disciples of all nations
Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
Teaching them to observe all things that our Father has commanded us.
The commitment is even shorter:
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age
More insight into God's intent for America can be found in Genesis 2:15 " Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it."
And God did that again on a little beach in Virginia, in 1607
And on another beach at Plymouth Rock
And in the snowy woods of Valley Forge
So, what does "tend and keep it" mean in this Year of Our Lord 2024?
It means the exact same thing as it did when God said it to Adam; it means the exact same thing that Benjamin Franklin meant when he answered Mrs. Powel's question with "A republic, if you can keep it".
In Matthew 16:18
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church ; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
But the word Jesus used, which is translated as "church" was "ekklesia" - look at Strong’s : 1577
Here's an explanation: "Understanding the definition of ekklesia (and its alternate spelling ecclesia) is an important component of understanding the church. Ekklesia is a Greek word defined as “a called-out assembly or congregation.” Ekklesia is commonly translated as “church” in the New Testament. For example, Acts 11:26 says that “Barnabas and Saul met with the church [ekklesia]” in Antioch. And in 1 Corinthians 15:9 Paul says that he had persecuted the church [ekklesia] of God.” The “called-out assembly,” then, is a congregation of believers whom God has called out of the world and “into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). The Greek ekklesia is the basis for our English words ecclesiastical (“pertaining to the church”) and ecclesiology (“the study of doctrine concerning the church”)."
Which exposes the Marxist lies about "separation of church and state" - God intended and intends that the ekklesia be where the state is formed and governed.
Today's Americans would do well to think about the entire world which God assigned to Adam "to tend and keep" and about what happened when Adam and Eve were not good stewards.
Virginia Beach
In 1607, the expedition led by Pastor Robert Hunt arrived in Virginia Beach. When they arrived in Virginia, the expedition dedicated our country to the glory of God. They planted a rough-hewn wooden cross, which they brought from England, in the sand and prayed: “We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this Land, along with England, be Evangelist to the World. May all who see this Cross, remember what we have done here, and may those who come here to inhabit join us in this Covenant and in this most noble work that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled”
Winthrop Sermon - Dreams of a City on a Hill, 1630
“Beloved, there is now set before us life and death, good and evil, in that we are 2 commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one another, to walk in his ways and to keep his Commandments and his ordinance and his laws, and the articles of our Covenant with Him, that we may live and be multiplied, and that the Lord our God may bless us in the land whither we go to possess it. But if our hearts shall turn away, so that we will not obey, but shall be seduced, and worship other Gods, our pleasure and profits, and serve them; it is propounded unto us this day, we shall surely perish out of the good land whither we pass over this vast sea to possess it. Therefore let us choose life, that we and our seed may live, by obeying His voice and cleaving to Him, for He is our life and our prosperity”
George Washington - Valley Forge
“Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow-citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility andpacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
